Inspiration: TED

Ever wish there was a place where great people with great ideas could come together for the sole purpose of expressing those ideas and giving a tangible reason and way in which those ideas can be obtained…

I know I have.

Well, wish no longer.

Everyone, meet TED.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It’s purpose is to provide the public access to great ideas.

On the TED website, they have created a cataloge of online video lectures. In this catalogue you can watch videos ranging from Stephen Hawking asking big questions about the universe, or Seth Godin discussing sliced bread.

And the best thing about the TED website is…it’s all free! You can watch, listen, and download all of the TED Talks for nothing!

I highly recommend you check it outHERE, or subscribe to it on iTunes HERE.

The Genius of Baz Luhrmann

I love movies. I love getting sucked into the world that writers, producers, actors, and directors create. There really is nothing like that feeling you get when you walk out of the theatre after seeing a good movie. You feel… clearer.

I’ve deemed these past two days as Baz Luhrmann Marathon days. I own all of his movies, so I’ve been watching them while I work. If you are unfamiliar with Baz’s work, these titles may remind you:

Strictly Ballroom
William Shakespeare’s: Romeo + Juliet
Mouline Rouge!

Anyway, after I finished these movies I decided to research his new movie that is coming out in August called, “Australia.”

This brings us to the meat of the post.

Apple has decided that they want to help bring the Baz experience to podcast viewers, so they’ve started the Set to Screen series on iTunes. Every few weeks, Baz launches a video which documents and gives information on the different processes that go into making a movie.

The series is really inspiring, so I totally recommend you check-check-check it out. (Particularly the one about “On Set Photography”… truly inspiring.)

Inspiration and Respiration

I remember at one point in my life discussing the similarities between the words inspiration and respiration. It’s the idea of the green house effect equalling the concept of community and sharing ideas.

It goes something like this:

Respiration -
We breath in oxygen, is comes out carbon dioxide, a plant takes it, repackages it into oxygen, which another person then inhales.

Inspiration -
We take in inspiration, with which we produce art, which then is delivered and interpreted by the surroundings, and is given to another person as inspiration.

That being said…

Cory Godbey provides me with a lot of oxygen.
