A very rough concept piece from The Civil Wars shoot. This is all taken from the polaroids, and looks very choppy (i know), but I love where the idea is heading. Can’t wait to get the film back.
Taylor Bruce is a wonderful writer and a dear friend. He and his lovely wife are moving North (Manhattan) in the next few days, so I thought I would give him a photography send off.
Taylor is a travel writer. As a prop we used dozens of paper airplanes made out of maps and book pages. The polaroids look pretty great, so I can’t wait to see the film.

Leslie is pregnant!
Michael and Leslie are dear friends that spend their days helping people in Kenya. They stopped by the studio on their latest stint in the US. Film to come.
I can’t wait to get this film back. Brooke is another one of my favorite people to shoot. Her look is cinematic incredibly. When she looks at you, she doesn’t do the terrible STARE, she simply sees you. Wonderful, just wonderful.
Jon performed a great show at the Bottletree the last week. He was kind enough to let me shoot a couple rolls off before he went on. Jon is one of my favorite models to shoot.

Great thing about old polaroid cameras and old metal film cameras: Kids love them, and they can drop with on the grass with no worries.

Shooting and Editing
The last three weeks have been crazy….and cool…crazy cool.
The Moxii project will be officially wrapped up in the next couple of days, and I can’t wait to see it all together. It’s very rare that I get to be on the ground floor in creating a “seen style” with a company. Usually a client knows exactly what they want and you are hired to be a fulfillment of that pre-determined style. But with Moxii, I got to be very creative. I was able to hire my favorite stylist (Celine), and with the rest of the Moxii crew, we created something really really cool!
Amongst the craziness of the two weeks with Moxii, I was hired by Garden & Gun to shoot a “Portrait of Birmingham” for the June issue. I am not exagerating by saying thatG&G is my favorite magazine, and I was pretty floored when they called. So for the last two days, Rob Culpepper (who the dawned the role of assistant) and I have travelled all around Birmingham shooting portraits, food, environments, hotels, etc.
The film gets back tomorrow, but I can’t show any of the final images until the magazine is published in June. However, I hope this test shot of Rob will hold you over for a while.
